Hopefully they will bring in the competent engineers that were once fired or overlooked due to the color of their skin and/or gender and get the job done.

Those engineers are long gone and not coming back.

My son who works for Boeing (not AeroSpace division) mentioned a rumor that sends a 4-man SpaceX ship to the station with only two pilots onboard. They will retrieve the two NASA guys and return to Earth. Then the StarLiner will be decoupled to return unmanned. If successful, great. If not no lives lost.
