The president of an American Federations of Teachers' affiliate in Chicago was berated by a Black mom for claiming on a radio station that standardized tests are "junk science rooted in White supremacy" as well as "eugenics."
Stacy Davis Gates, president of the Chicago Teachers Union and executive vice president of the Illinois Federation of Teachers, was asked by a Black radio station last week about public school students' declining reading and math scores. Specifically, criticism that Gates was advocating to boost teachers' contracts with money that would be better served addressing student achievement.
She responded that gauging student achievement through testing was the problem.
"The way in which, you know, we think about learning and think about achievement is really and truly based on testing, which at best is junk science rooted in White supremacy," she said. "Now, if you have another hour, I can get into why standardized tests are born out of the eugenics movement. And the eugenics movement is always thought to see Black people as inferior to those that are non-Black."

Ha! Thats rich. Blacks have plenty of racism within they’re own race......many of them believe lighter skinned blacks are somehow superior to darker skinned ones. And ive seen it it 1st hand.....if THAT’S not racism I don’t know what is.
I’d love to hear her additional hour.
At least they have a “Black radio station”…

graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in political science from St. Mary’s College in 1999. Later she studied nonprofit management at the University of Notre Dame and educational administration at Concordia University Chicago.
Got the BA at St. Mary’s but nothing from ND or Concordia.
Standardized testing is based on eugenics but not Planned Parenthood...ok
You could pump $20T dollars into Chicago schools, without even a blip in student performance.
I’m a retired urban public high school teacher. To turn city schools around you need:
1. Orderly classrooms. Even in my worst classes, most of the kids were good. But even one disruptive student could shut an entire class down.
2. Mainstream classes with reasonable expectations. If a student fails, he’s off to summer school. No social promotions.
3. Honors classes with high expectations. And no whining about diversity. Entrance by talent, only.
Today’s school administrators are not interested in implementing even one of the above. They have no courage. So I must sadly conclude that city schools are beyond fixing.
And I say “sadly” there because public schools can serve an important function as a Melting Pot. But what’s that worth if no one is learning much?
Empty skulls are easier to keep on the RAT plantation.
It’s not racism within a race. It’s just plain bigotry.
If I were in charge I would make all the TEACHERS take the standardized tests, and fire any who did not pass
Just because someone doesn’t like the universe works, like math, physics, science, biology, doesn’t mean that it is racist. The universe just doesn’t care, it feelings won’t be hurt that certain people believe it’s principles are racist. Just like Gravity, it just is, and if you tempt it with stupidity it will extract a price.
I wonder if the idea that your black means you can’t learn basic core studies, isn’t the most racist concept of all. Perhaps Black leaders, who have so aligned themselves with liberal groupthink, have allowed anger to cloud the perspectives about learning. Then perhaps, the most dangerous thing to Minorities, and especially blacks, is the belief that they don’t have to learn or achieve because of race. This keeps them as an underclass, allows violence and hate to persist.
That makes liberals the most dangerous of humans, as their ‘feelings’ lead to violence, hate, and sadness.
