*On Sunday, Elon Musk replied to a post about riots taking place in the U.K. on X, the social media platform he owns, stating: "Civil war is inevitable."
* Heidi Alexander, the U.K. justice minister, told Sky News Tuesday that language associating the riots with civil war is "totally unjustified."
* The unrest in Britain, initially starting as anti-immigration protests, has been overtaken by violent disorder fueled by misinformation online.
A number of towns and cities — including Liverpool and Manchester — have seen violent disorder on the streets in the last week, with far-right groups clashing with police and rival demonstrators.
On Sunday, Musk replied to a post about the riots on X, the social media platform he owns, stating: "Civil war is inevitable."
His remark was subsequently met with condemnation by U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
Responding to a reporter's question on Monday on whether Starmer agreed with Musk's tweet, the PM's spokesperson said: "There is no justification for comments like that."
"What we've seen in this country is organized illegal thuggery which has no place on our streets or online," Starmer's official spokesperson said.

But what’s really crazy about what the Police Commissioner said is that he intends to expand his reach beyond Britain’s borders and to attack overseas thoughtcrimes that people who aren’t British citizens commit. That is, after all, the import of his threat against Elon Musk and others who are “committing crimes from further afield online.”
