A fed-up California Democratic state senator has revealed she is jumping ship to the Republican Party because her now-former party has become unrecognizable under its current leadership and policies.

State Sen. Marie Alvarado-Gil, a longtime Democrat, broke news of her defection late Thursday, saying the values she shared with the Democratic Party when she was elected in 2022 have now shifted.

“In the past two years that I’ve been working in the Senate, I have not recognized the party that I belong to,” the lawmaker said during an appearance on Fox News.

“The Democratic Party is not the party that I signed up for decades ago.”

“I can’t, in good conscious with the values that I have and my commitment to represent the voters of California, continue to call myself a Democrat,” she added.

Good, I guess. But the CA GOP still is dead and not coming back any time soon. They really need to shake things up rathe r than simply waiting for people to get tired of the Dems.

Yeah, what bloody crappola. 2020 was no watershed year for CaCaLand — it has been THIS for over a decade. She signed up for that.

Must have been disappointed with her bag of dosh.

But how will she vote and represent?

Almost all, but not all, of the counties in her district are conservative. The Stalinists have been in complete control here for more than 20 years. The notion that their nature was unknown to her, or that they’ve gotten perceptibly worse, is complete bs

Marie endorsed Harris two weeks ago. Marie is a first-term senator representing a R-leaning swing district. Marie’s campaign manager is a Lincoln Project participant. This is from Harmeet Dhillon, an expert on California politics. Adding her number to the Rs will not help the Rs right now, but it may get her elected next time.

As a Californian, I hope she starts a trend. Surely there must be more Democrats who recognize the mess they have made of this once wonderful state.

I live in her district. It was a fluke she was elected in a strongly red district. In the jungle primary, there were four Republicans running against two two Democrats. The four Republicans spit the votes fairly evenly and shut themselves out of the primary. The Stupid Party at work.

Alvarado-Gil didn’t have a prayer to be reflected as a Democrat. CAGOP sees this as a win-win because they don’t have to financially support a Republican incumbent and they can give the illusion that the Republicans are gaining ground. Alvarado-Gil can further her political career.

Never mind that she just endorsed Kamala for president. Other than maybe voting against a tax increase or two, she’s a run of the mill California Democrat.

“TRUST NO ONE—BELIEVE NOTHING—DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH—LET THE FACTS SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES—THEN MAKE YOUR DESCISION”.

Yes I am quoting myself; how do we know her district didn’t just change political orientation and she’s not just going with the flow for her next election?

It’s been known to happen up and down the political spectrum, and rather frequently in the last 20 or 30 years!
