The press has questions for Vice President Kamala Harris. She isn’t giving a whole lot of answers.
In the nearly three weeks since President Joe Biden withdrew his candidacy, catapulting Harris to the top of the Democratic ticket, the vice president has shown little eagerness to meet journalists in unscripted settings. She has not granted an interview or held a news conference. On Thursday, after a rally in Michigan, she held her first “gaggle” with reporters covering her campaign.
It lasted 70 seconds.
Harris’ lack of engagement with the media has become a constant rallying cry on the political right, with Republican critics and Fox News stars accusing the vice president of ducking scrutiny. The Harris campaign says it is being thoughtful about how best to deploy its message, and to introduce a new candidate to crucial voters in battleground states.
Harris’ record with big interviews is mixed. An appearance in 2021 with Lester Holt of NBC went poorly and raised concerns within the Biden administration. Since then, Harris has cultivated relationships with media stars like Joe Scarborough and numerous White House correspondents. In her most recent TV interview, on CNN immediately following the June debate, Harris comfortably addressed Biden’s poor performance.
Aides to Harris argue that in a fractured media landscape, where trust in traditional news outlets has fallen, their most effective voter outreach comes from alternative venues such as TikTok and their own social media platforms.
“The vice president’s top priority is earning the support of the voters who will decide this election,” Kevin Munoz, a spokesperson for Harris, said Thursday, adding that the campaign was “being strategic, creative and expeditious” in using TV ads, rallies, local organizers, “and of course interviews that reach our target voters.”
He did not say when such an interview might take place.

Because if at all possible they’re not going to.....and if they do it’ll be highly scripted and controlled just like taterhead.

When you have a loathsome horrible stupid candidate, everything has to be scripted. Even Biden was given a list of names for prescreened questions, Harris doesn’t have dementia, but she still lacks brainpower.
I’d pound this issue every minute every day, it’s is “defining her”.
Too stupid to answer questions, too stupid to be President.
Any question more complicated than ‘what color is your dress’ just throws her into a brain freeze.

It is simple. The #JihadJunta will allow the cheating mechanism to “manage” the Campaign. The Media is doing the “heavy lifting..” they are airing 22 minute campaign commercials every night on ABCNBCCBS and the Cable Propaganda Outlets. The Morning Memo gives them the script, and the sycophantic anchors are all “stepping up” to the challenge. Welcome to 1984 2.0. I’m sure Orwell is pleased.
They want a "monolith" - something to worship and means to them whatever they want it to mean, but in reality it means nothing.
She can cackle for more than 70 seconds.
Loved how Vance walked over to her plane and spoke to reporters while she hid out.
They really don’t want this election so why bother campaigning. Ha ha, her face staring downing the freak who dared interrupt her speech a couple days ago. Pathetic.
Just as with Biden — and for good reason! — Harris’s handlers are scared Schiff-less of any unscripted performance by Harris. She is just not good at campaigning; she only succeeds when she’s placed there by other powerful forces. She cannot do this herself ... and her handlers damn-well know it!
It seems bizarre that her campaign can’t find time for a sycophant media... that last thing they want to do is annoy the very sector that’s already working overtime to morph her image into something palatable.
Campaigning from the basement and let the mass media do the hard work seems to be a winning strategy for the Democrats, lately.
Tooooo stupid to speak she’ll make Biden look like a genius
The media are covering for her, as they have for the past four years when the Biden admin kept her hidden. She is a liability, unlikeable and they know it.
She does not speak well unless she has a teleprompter in front of her and has been coached as to what to say.

Yes, and just like the left tried to re-image Michelle Obama into “gorgeous”... they’re trying to make Kamala appear attractive. I don’t see it. Even if she kept her mouth shut (impossible task without really strong duct tape)... she still looks rather masculine to me. Maybe it’s the nose.
