There was a hilarious scene in the “M*A*S*H” TV show where Frank Burns put in for, and was awarded a Purple Heart for “catching a shell fragment” in his eye. Hawkeye said “I treated that injury, Frank; you cracked open an egg and got an egg shell fragment in your eye!”.
