‘Furious battles are underway’: Kursk residents call on Putin for help after Ukrainian incursion

Ukrainian forces are pushing further into the Kursk region of Russia, in a cross-border incursion that surprised even American officials, multiple US and Ukrainian officials tell CNN.

Ukrainian forces are comprised of a mix of Ukrainian regular and special operations units, unlike previous Ukrainian operations inside Russia that often involved undercover units and local sympathizers.

The intention, say US and Ukrainian officials, is multifaceted, in part to disrupt and demoralize Russian forces and in part to divert Russian forces away from other parts of the eastern front.

Russia claimed on Thursday to have halted a Ukrainian incursion into its territory, but later said that some battles are ongoing in the Kursk region. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, units of the “North” group of its forces, together with the Russian Federal Security Service, the FSB, “continue to destroy Ukrainian armed forces formations in the Sudzhensky and Korenevsky districts of the Kursk region, which are directly adjacent to the Russian-Ukrainian border.” CNN cannot independently verify these claims.

Kursk residents, who live in the Sudzhansky District, recorded a video address to Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday asking for his help, saying he has been misinformed about the situation on the ground and the Russian Defense Ministry’s statements about things being under control are untrue.

The address was published on a local Telegram channel that is dedicated to covering the latest news out of the town of Sudzha in Kursk region, which has been under Ukrainian attack for several days.

“These lies enable the local residents to die. The Chief of the General staff recently told you that the situation is under control, but today huge furious battles are underway in the Sudzhansky and Korenevsky districts,” one of the residents said.

“Sudzha was attacked, turned into ruins in hours."

I like pointing out that you’re ridiculous.
Because it is ridiculous.
Unlike you mister big balls, I don’t PRETEND to tell everyone what’s going to happen.

Considering this war has gone on for 3 years, I don’t think your batting average has been too good.

Wasn’t the war over and the Ukraine military “obliterated” two years ago?

What a joke.

Ukraine ping

[Ukraine invaded with a CORP comrade, not 1000 men. They are staying.]

What I’m hearing is 75,000 men, the equivalent of 2 army corps. The theory is that they’ve been squirreling equipment and munitions away for almost a year, while poor-mouthing the state of their gear and supplies, and deliberately* giving way in the Donbass, to encourage the Russians to reinforce success.

Note the almost complete radio silence from Ukraine since the operation began. People with connections at the Pentagon have remarked upon how the Ukrainians have been very successful at keeping things not just from the Russians, but from the watchers in the US intelligence community. The consensus is that for the most part, anything that comes from Ukrainian sources is what Ukraine’s military high command wants the world to hear, good or bad.

* It’s likely only Syrski and a handful of his most trusted subordinates and Zelensky’s inner circle knew. The lower ranks on the front lines were presumably not informed. They were deliberately starved of equipment and munitions to further the deception. Of course, this wasn’t just about wrong-footing the Russians. Ukraine’s limited resources meant making choices. Material for the offensive had to come from somewhere. So the front line troops in the Donbass suffered.

This is your statement to which I responded:

“All those Ukrainian soldiers will die in Kursk.”

🇺🇦 is now confirmed to control at least 155 km² of Kursk Oblast.

For reference, 🇷🇺 controls ~150 km² north of Kharkiv. Advances are reported to be more extensive than shown, however, OPSEC is tight and this is all that has been verified so far.

While you’re busy running your mouth.

I mostly respond to people supporting Vladimir Putin as a hero, and people who insist on telling us exactly what is going to happen.

If that upsets you, too bad.

All those Ukrainian soldiers will die in Kursk.

They can't die twice. According to reports in the past, and people like you, the Ukrainian soldiers were killed in the first 2 months of the war. So,, these Ukrainians venturing into Russian territory, must be all ghosts or zombies, or fakes.

This is actually a much better tactic than head long assaults into well fortified positions that are murder zones for Ukraine recruits.
Make the ruskies defend THEIR territory for once.
If course this could backfire as Lees’s incursion at Gettysburg.
Time will tell
