Borrell said he had spoken with Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide by phone after Israel's decision and said the European Union stood in "full solidarity" with Oslo.
"Upon my instructions, the Head of the EU Delegation in Tel Aviv has conveyed our position to the Israeli Government," Borrell said in a statement.

Is an “F the EU” out of line?
Asking for a FRiend....
The quite meaningful letter ‘F’ is not inappropriate in this context at all.
Citing what it described as “a flurry of recent anti-Israel and unilateral steps taken by the government of Norway,” Israel’s Foreign Ministry on Monday announced that it will revoke the diplomatic accreditation of eight Norwegian diplomats based in Tel Aviv who dealt with the Palestinian Authority.
According to the ministry, the dramatic move serves as a response to Oslo’s recognition of a Palestinian state as well as recent “severe comments by senior Norwegian officials.”
The Norwegian ambassador was summoned to the Foreign Ministry in Jerusalem and informed that the diplomats would have their accreditation revoked in seven days and their visas in three months. All eight were given the option to apply for new accreditation.
“There is a price for anti-Israeli conduct. Instead of fighting Palestinian terrorism after October 7 and supporting Israel’s fight against the Iranian axis of evil — Norway chose to award the murderers and rapists of Hamas in the form of recognition of a Palestinian state,” Foreign Minister Israel Katz said in a statement.
I know nothing about Norwegian culture and internal politics. But, I find their support of terrorists disturbing.
Why does Norway get an embassy at all? Now they are part of the EU and the EU has an ambassador. Either the EU, or Norway needs to lose an embassy.
They sided with Hamas, so why should they expect normal relations with Israel?
Scandinavians have a unique brand of arrogance.
Cowardice might also be playing a role. 3.4% of their population already is of the “religion of peace.”
Just so long as you don’t express the same sentiments towards the NATO bureaucracy which is really rather friendly and for the most part quite harmless.
“the NATO bureaucracy “ is busy killing off as many Ukes as they can with as many US buck$ as they can get.
The NATO bureaucracy is not killing anyone. They are arriving late, leaving early, taking long lunches, and enjoying their villas in nice locations with internationally [think US] subsidized housing allowances. Any kientic action is happening outside of the NATO bureaucracy. They are really a very nice friendly and passive group of folks.
hostiles are not welcome
almost anybody else is welcome, indeed very welcome
take your choice, EuroNazis
Norway is not part of the EU. Perhaps because they have so much oil.
The Oslo Accords have been a disaster. So of course Oslo doubles down on them.
Wasn’t Quisling Norwegian— he jumped right in with the Nazis and abused a whole lot of Norwegians. Quisling formed a Fascist Norwegian faction that aligned with the Nazi occupation, and aided them particularly in Germany’s war efforts, officially sent Jews out of Norway to concentration camps in occupied Poland— to death camps- to solidify his hitler cooperation.
It is not impossible that Norwegian/EU diplomats are pro- German Socialists- and anti-Israel, them retaining much of what Quisling was about, even though he was executed along with many of his fascist party. So Israel had enough of their messing around with Palestine (which is not a country) and got rid of the people who were aiding Hamas and the PA.
As an involuntary (I voted no in the Swedish EC/EU accession referendum) member of that organization I would go as far to say that the “F” word is almost always appropriate in the context of the EU.
Maybe the EU delegation should move to Gaza.
If the Norwegian government wants to support the Pallies, let them establish an embassy or consulate in Rafah.
I agree. It’s like California having an embassy there.
