Glad you shared that. I was wondering what the point was to their incursion. It just made no sense to me.
If the incursion does nothing else it creates a political headache for Putin.The less he seems to be in control the greater the chance people sitting on the fence will finally make their moves.
You may recall that Putin issued a statement in June saying that any negotiations to resolve the conflict had to recognize Russia’s right to keep any territory it gained in the war as an initial condition. Some saw this as a sign that he was finally weary of the war and had finally opened the door to some type of settlement, albeit on terms then unfavorable to Ukraine’s territorial integrity. Now, with Ukraine occupying Russian territory, which Putin has always claimed to be sacred, and poised to perhaps occupy more, the shoe is on the other foot. This is a very savvy move.
Well, if this incursion doesn't make sense to a great military mind like yours, then I guess that it is just nonsensical.
You have been poring over maps and reports on troop movements on a daily basis for the past 2-1/2 years, right?
