While I would normally agree with this sentiment, we're running out of time. Harris is enjoying a polling bounce from the constant news that will give her a tailwind going into the convention. Trump has to slow that down now.
Hitting Walz with Stolen Valor allegations now will put Harris on the defensive going into the convention. Anything the DNC tries to put up regarding the military will be tainted by Walz lying about his service.
If Walz drops out, that will throw the Harris campaign back into disarray going into the convention. Republicans will say that Harris botched the first executive decision that she's made, and is this what we can expect from Harris presidency?
If Walz drops out, Harris might be forced to pick Shapiro after all because she's running out of time, too. If she doesn't pick Shapiro, party leaders might step in and pick someone for her at the convention. If she does pick Shapiro, the anti-Israel faction of her party will be upset and might protest.
All of this will be going on in public while Harris is trying to boost her polls going into the convention. It's a win for Republicans to hammer this issue now.

And what if she picks Michael Obama?
I don't know that Walz will make it past the weekend with the Stolen Valor changes coming in so hot and heavy.
I wonder if the same characters who said that Trump shouldn't have blown away Biden in the debate will say something similar about this.
