Imagine him with all his problems (military, DUI, other leftist bents) being ‘vetted’ and selected by Harris. This shows what kind of ‘leader’ she’d be, frankly. A very haphazard, poor one. Besides being a complete moron.
He was in a field artillery unit. That pretty much comes with a 10% disability from deafness.
No, it’s not an excuse for any of his problems. I offer this as an explanation only, not as an “excuse.”
The guy seems like a typical “goofy” politician.
“He’s no Thomas Eagleton.”
He’s way worse than Eagleton. True, Eagleton’s issue was huge but not really his fault. (He should have disclosed, for sure.)
But when you add up everything horrid done by Tampon Tim, his “body of work” is stunning, and he was pro-active in all of his actions, i.e., stolen valor, DUI lies to LEOs, etc.
I had mumps or measles when I was 3, I’ve been 80%+ deaf in my right ear. It was an issue during my physical for my ROTC scholarship.
As the doctor raised his concerns, I told him, “Doc, I’ve had this issue since I was 3, and it didn’t stop me from getting a 3.6 GPA, while playing baseball and basketball in High School.”
I bought my first hearing aid two years ago, at 68.
I hadn’t thought about that, but sounds like that would probably be something that would affect your “combat readiness” for a guardsman.
There were times when my hearing caused a few issues, none serious. Other times, I used it to good effect, such as when my CO issued nonsensical orders. I took an action I thought was more appropriate, and do my mea culpa later. Being a Platoon Leader was not rocket science.
If one is convicted of a DUI, it can still be relevant to some degree. According to the article he pleaded to reckless driving, which probably saved his military career or at least preventing further advancement.
