Iran Denies NYT Claim Hidden Bomb Killed Hamas Chief, Claims ‘Projectile’ Hit Lodging

Members of the terrorist Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and Iranian lawmakers said on Sunday “infiltration” of Iranian security did not play a role in the elimination of Hamas “political” chief Ismail Haniyeh – contradicting a New York Times report claiming Haniyeh was killed by a bomb hidden in his room. Haniyeh, who lived a life of luxury in Qatar securing financing and political support for the genocidal terrorist organization Hamas, died in an explosion on July 31 while visiting Iran for the inauguration of President Masoud Pezeshkian. Both Pezeshkian and Ayatollah Ali Khamenei were seen embracing Haniyeh at the inaugural ceremonies hours before Iranian authorities confirmed his death.

The idea of a hidden bomb is not as far-fetched as some claim. There are a lot of "quiet dissidents" in the Iranian government that hate dealing with Hamas, a Sunni Islam organization (Iranian Muslims follow Shi'a Islam), and the death of that Hamas leader is quietly welcomed by those dissident elements.

Perhaps the projectile was only a drone to record the explosion from the planted bomb.

If the bomb was planted by Iranian security people, even though funded by Israel, the case for punishing Israel falls apart.

It was an inside job.

It’s far more believable than someone having a device hidden in there for four months.

Only funding a hit exempts one from punishment? That's why law enforcement never goes after the ones who hire hitmen. /sarc

An important mucky-muck gets blown up in the state guest house. None of the possible scenarios looks good for the state. An Iranian planted the bomb? The Israelis planted the bomb? A foreign state penetrated the air-defense system of your capital?

It’s almost as embarrassing as a 20-year-old managed to nearly assassinate a former President.

It is difficult discerning the truth when two known liars, Hamas and the NY Times, have opposing accounts of the same event. Perhaps, both of them are wrong and he committed suicide. My guess is as good as theirs

I wonder what paying off a couple top security men to plant a bomb costs - the direct payment plus pulling them and their families to safety, new identity, etc.

20M each?

"... having a device hidden in there for four months."

Have you ever heard of people doing renovation to their homes, demoing a wall or ceiling and finding all manner of weird stuff?

I did some work on a previous home and in the crawl space I found an old plastic skeleton laying in the dirt, would have stayed down there forever unless I decided to do a few improvements under the house.

I can see someone walling in some explosives or in a ceiling, how they ignite it I don't know, but it's possible.

This isn’t Joe Homeowner. This is a Hamas Chief. No unvetted contractor is renovating his bedroom.

Nyt and washpo have hired a couple of agents of mullahs, from the Romney-Zarif faction, as “reporters” and experts on Iran, like the writer of this article, Farnaz Fassihi, and they’re the ones spreading mullah friendly disinformation in USA through these leftist media channels.
