Interesting. The Amalekites were on God’s list as in 1 Samuel 15:3.

In what turned out to be a Biblical lesson against the Hebrews, they spared the life of Haman’s ancestor, deciding to disobey God and substitute their own idea of being kind and letting him go. The later descendent Haman dedicated his life to killing all the Jews he could find.
Background:
Haman, son of Hammedatha, was the royal vizier to the Persian king Ahasuerus. Haman was a descendant of Agag, the king of the Amalekites defeated by the Israelite king Saul.
