Trump team files FEC complaint over transfer of Biden's $91M to Harris campaign: 'Brazen money grab'

Former President Trump’s campaign filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) on Tuesday, accusing President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris of violating campaign finance laws by transferring his $91 million in fundraising cash to her new campaign.

Biden bowed out of the presidential race on Sunday following weeks of calls for him to leave following a shaky debate performance.

The president endorsed the vice president to run for the Democratic ticket in his place and transferred his millions of dollars in campaign cash over to her.

The Trump campaign argued in the complaint, first reported by The New York Times and obtained by Fox News Digital, that Harris is "seeking to perpetrate a $91.5 million dollar heist of Joe Biden’s leftover campaign cash."

the head of the FEC already stated the biden/harris funds was only for the event when biden/harris was running in the general election.

since they were never nominated for the general election by the dnc, the funds to that campaign (biden/harris) should return to the donors.

if the biden/harris campaign had been nominated by the party and then biden croaked, only then would harris be able to choose a running mate.

anything else is embezzlement

That was my take. If they had been nominated, I could see it. As it us, he’s not the candidate yet and she’s not his running mate.

Technically, the delegates are still pledged to Biden, even if he "released" them. I'd think the delegates are not his to release until the DNC convention is formally gaveled into session. Until then, they belong to the voters of their respective states.

The party has bylaws and convention rules. Until the convention convenes, I think everything is frozen in place. I'd love to be proven wrong because I'm not motivated enough to do the research on it.

I'd think that means it's still the Biden/Harris campaign. That also means that the $90 million Harris just "raised" belongs to the campaign with Biden's name at the top of the ticket, just like with all the prior fundraisers that Harris headlined for the ticket.

The far left of the party might still want to mount a floor fight to get some concessions in the platform from the ticket. Until the candidates are formally nominated, seconded, and voted on by the delegates on the floor in the formally convened convention, everything stays as it was at the conclusion of the primary elections.

Well, as long as Biden doesn’t pay some hush money to a prostitute, he’s free and clear.

It is actually illegal for them to transfer the money like this. A financial crime that could land them in a NY court!

But seriously the court system is so corrupt they will do nothing. Find a bunch of democrats that donated to Biden and have a problem with what is happening to their money here. Maybe they would have “Standing” to sue. Maybe they could even win by 2025 or so.

Agree.

They delighted in trying to take every last dollar from Trump with the E. Jean Carroll fraudulent case and then the judge ruling Trump couldn’t contest another unless he put up a fortune in money first. Case in New York about “inflated values of holdings”.

Yesterday his lawyers appealed:
Trump’s lawyers called the $454 million judgment “draconian” and complained that the “case violates centuries of New York case law.”

Huh. The MSM is reporting that Kamala’s CAMPAIGN has raised over 91 million in less than 24 hours, “the most contributions ever received in such a short time”. Nowhere do they mention that it’s just a transfer from Joe’s campaign chest. They are simply incapable of telling the truth about ANYTHING!

What happens to the $204 million Biden raised for reelection?
<><>It’s complicated FEC issue.
<><>Biden’s reelection efforts had raised a total of $240 million at the end of June 2024.
<><>Those funds are split across the DNC, allied committees and Biden’s campaign committee itself.
<><>The Biden campaign committee alone holds $95.9 million as of the end of last month.
<><>Biden transferred $91 million to Kamala
<><>The FEC chair intimated that Harris might not actually be eligible to access the funds.
<><>He pointed to this regulation: 11 C.F.R. § 110.1(b)(3): “If the candidate is not a candidate in the general election, all contributions made for the general election shall be either returned or refunded to the contributors or redesignated ..., or reattributed ..., as appropriate.”

i wouldnt have had the campaign do this..maybe a PAC or somebody else. This is frivilous and makes them look kind of rattled. I would go bolder...proclaim that she is not the legitimate nominee and refuse to debate her on those grounds. That they hijacked “democracy”. Trust me, millions think that right now. CNN and the others are just giddy about any debates, they are alreday framing them as the “FELON vs the PROSECUTOR. She’s going to attack him personally and hope he melts down. In 2020, she attacked Biden and called him a racist to his face, ..even brought up what he said about bussing in the 1970’s. Shes a race hustler, thats all she is.
