If he had been removed or otherwise disciplined many years ago he would never had become Pope. And there was cause to do so.
So I have heard-he was probably cut some slack because of where he is from-a communist country where the church only exists as long as they do and say as the govt tells them to-so that was ripe to go bad from the get-go...
