In the days since a gunman tried to assassinate Donald Trump, a township in rural Pennsylvania has received a barrage of hate mail and angry phone calls blaming its officers for failing to keep the former president safe.
Now Butler Township Manager Tom Knights is pushing back. “They couldn’t be more wrong,” he said in an interview Tuesday.
Despite the dozens of local, state and federal law enforcement officers on the scene, Knights said it was four Butler Township officers assigned to traffic duty who bolted from their post and raced to confront the gunman, with one clinging to the roof where the would-be assassin was perched.
“Our officers acted instinctively, did their job, followed the training that they had,” Knights told NBC News.
(((((“He was literally dangling from the edge of a building and took the defensive position he needed to at that time. He couldn’t hold himself up,” Knights said. The officer, who has 10 years of experience in law enforcement, severely injured an ankle in the fall and was in a walking boot, Knights said.))))

And here he is scouting arg builing walking around.........though this one only discoverd after the shootings.
Ok gota go for now.....want to catch the RNC convention tonight.
Are you for real?
The only flaw in their plan was that the shooter missed. Everything else went off exactly as they planned it.
Well they have to identify someone on a roof IS a threat.....and not some punk kid trying to get a birds eye view of Trump. Many of those wandering around outside the perimeter couldn’t get in...so there’s that.

I don’t believe with their high powered binoculars and scopes that they did not know the kid with the same long haired kid who was photographed on the grounds 30 minutes earlier was not their suspicious person of interest. Now, this same kid was being observed crawling on a roof with a long gun. If they had to wait for a first shot from this shooter before taking him out that was pure insanity. This is beyond stupid, especially when you are protecting a former president and a future candidate for president.
But after two police officers radioed in that there was a guy on the roof with a gun, why wasn’t President Trump immediately evacuated?

Bongino says the SS pre-designates a holding area at these venues just for the contingency to serve as a holding area off stage until the threat is resolved.
They know what they’re trained to do....if or not they follow those proceedures or not is a split second decision....so decisions were made to observe....WHO made those decisions?
The secret service is in charge. They are at fault. They had control over all security in the area. Blaming local law enforcement is ridiculous.

‘People keep saying the local officer should have shot him, he should have stopped him, but you have to understand that officer was given a boost up by another officer and was using both hands to pull himself up over the edge of that roof to see what was going on, when he’s confronted by this guy pointing a gun at him.
‘He reached for his gun, lost his balance and fell and broke his ankle.’
