‘Our Nation Is Not Well’: Voters Fear What Could Happen Next

BUTLER, Pa. — Before Saturday, when Butler, Pennsylvania, became the latest stunned backdrop for the nation’s political fury, Mayor Bob Dandoy thought of his town as a place that had learned to work around party lines. A Democrat in a Republican stronghold, he had campaigned on consensus.

“I’ve never seen a Republican or Democratic pothole,” Dandoy, 71, a retired high school English teacher, would tell voters. “Or a Republican or Democratic playground. Or a Republican or Democratic fire that the fire department needs to put out.”

He was at dinner with his family Saturday when a City Council member texted. One spectator was dead at Donald Trump’s campaign rally on the farm show grounds, two more were critically injured. The former president’s right ear had been grazed by a bullet. The gunman, an isolated 20-year-old with an AR-15-style rifle, was fatally shot by the Secret Service. All this, in the town of about 13,000 where Dandoy has lived “all my life.”

Since then, national discord has descended on Butler with such force that this week it crashed the town’s website. E-mailers charged that the city failed to protect Trump, maybe even wanted him to be a target. Callers demanded that the city admit that Trump’s supporters staged the shooting. The mayor has tried to remind everyone that Butler is a community that accomplishes good things, that has worked through disagreements together. And yet, he said, the trauma has been overwhelming.

“People are in a state of shock,” he said. “And I can’t lob a platitude or give a speech and say everything is fine.”

I wonder how they write these articles. Does one writer write a line, then the next one writes the next line, and so forth, and so on, and what have you?

Well guess what mister mayor I’ve seen plenty of leftist democratic fires in recent years. If you want video I’m sure we can accommodate. Antifa and BLM are specialists at them.

Mayor Bob Dandoy...learned to work around party lines...he had campaigned on consensus.

A former President and candidate for President is holding a rally in your small town and you don’t bother to show up? Maybe he’s a bit more partisan than the NYT is writing.

Next? When people who are willing to kill to solve a problem fail, they reformulate and try again. They DO NOT say “Well that didn’t work” and go away.

Of course not. One writes a word then the next writes one and so forth until the sentence is completed. They take turns alphabetically.

Anyone ever seen one of these articles quote a Democrat followed by, “without evidence?”

We are thankful to God that Trump’s life was spared——narrowly.

Many delegates and speakers on shows said “We would be having a much different night if a bullet had been a part of an inch to the side.”

Yes, outrage but certainly tearful mourning from our end of the political spectrum.

But what do the Dems do if they can’t get old man Biden out for their glorious replacement? And they lose?

George Floyd and the earlier Skittles riots will be back in higher magnitudes.

Don’t count on Dems having decency or restraint.

RE: Several writers needed for one article.

Harlan Ellison once said any article requiring several names as writers means the bosses are afraid of getting in trouble so spread the responsibility around, each writer ready to deny they wrote the bad thing.

He said TV and movie screenplays with several names means the first writer was incompetent, the second was a hack hired as a fixer and the others were brought in to spread the blame.

A spark can light a forest.
But they need to know that it will not go the way they believe it will.

They need to know.
How can we convey that?

Get involved in the election process, even if Trump is killed, God forbid, we can still elect the movement.

They want us to be completely demoralized.

Don’t let it happen.
