Embattled Secret Service head Kimberly Cheatle has revealed the fateful reason why her agency failed to position an agent on top of the building that a gunman used to carry out an assassination attempt on Donald Trump.
Cheatle, who is already facing calls to resign over what some lawmakers are calling a massive security failure, said Secret Service officials planning security for Trump's rally in Butler, Pennsylvania considered the warehouse about 150 yards away from where Trump spoke to be a risky position for stationing an agent.
'That building in particular has a sloped roof at its highest point. And so, you know, there's a safety factor that would be considered there that we wouldn't want to put somebody up on a sloped roof,' she told ABC News in an interview Tuesday.
'And so, you know, the decision was made to secure the building, from inside.'
What transpired instead was a security nightmare: Thomas Matthew Crooks was able to scale the building and secure his own position, while law enforcement struggled to locate him even amid pressing warnings from members of the Trump crowd. But there wasn't sufficient time to act on the tips, she explalined.
'The shooter was actually identified as a potential person of suspicion,' Cheatle said. 'Unfortunately, with the rapid succession of how things unfolded, by the time that individual was eventually located, they were on the rooftop and were able to fire off at the former president.'

Just went to comment section of DM One of the comments was that Trump has had a rally there before and a
secret service sniper was stationed on that roof. Don’t know if it is true, but I’m really curious.
Everyone should call for this total moron to resign and do it now.
I am gonna guess not all SS agents were in on it, but were put in positions to fail and given orders that would make them fail.

Incompetence 100% but that doesn’t equal a conspiracy hoping some random kill would show up and pick that particular roof.
Look at the satellite images of the site (the larger ones) Look at all the roofs off in the distance in front of the stage (less than 1/2 a mile) Are you telling me they guarded those roofs or usually would? The longest sniper kill shot in the world is over 2 MILES away. Someone with some experience could of set up with a tripod and a decent scope and easily have taken their time and shot him from any building in that wide view satellite image.
What I don’t understand is they they are not using the glass barrier they used with Obama that surrounded him on three sides with bulletproof glass.
Yep - further proof women aren’t smart enough to do a man’s job.

I don’t care if it was a vertical cliff! Any person with a functioning brain could see that roof as requiring a law enforcement presence on it!
She should be arrested for criminal negligence and aiding and abetting an assassination! The senior field agent on sight should be charged with the same.

100% agree it was a miracle and thank goodness for the poor education system in America that didn’t train this kid properly in his school shooting class.

the rational explanation is incompetence because of DEI hiring at the top, poor communications (same as 9-11 issues between agencies), and rules of engagement that tie counter snipers’ hands.
