It’s one thing for the snipers to set up inside the building.
It’s quite another for them to let the strange guy with the rangefinder and the backpack walk around the building freely.
Why not stop him BEFORE he climbed onto the roof, and ask him: “What are you doing with the rangefinder? What’s in the backpack?”
If there were cops in the building, they likely figured “who would DARE shoot from OUR location.”
Another “Failure of imagination.”
I wonder who was in the building? Locals? Staties? SS.
And I wonder how Crooks knew the roof would be clear? I am sure there is video of him casing the place last week.
He never went “into” the event.
The head of SS said that the roof was slanted and therefore much too dangerous to station someone up there. Putting aside how weak & ridiculous that sounds, but if that’s the case then the counter snipers should have had orders to shoot and kill the moment they spotted someone up there since he won’t be one of their guys. And of course they should have had eyes on and around that building regardless.
SS is supposed be best of the best. Even if that is not the case, they should at least be competent. So how could they not have gamed out every possibility and how to react instantaneously to any threat? It boggles the mind. Either the SS is completely incompetent or the higher ups intentionally allowed vulnerabilities to creep into Trump’s protective shield, hoping some useful idiot (inspired by “threat to democracy” propaganda) would take advantage of these vulnerabilities at some point.
Lawfare failed (or at least didn’t deliver the kill shot to Trump’s candidacy that they were hoping for) and so this was their next move? For if you are willing to imprison your opponent for the rest of his life, then what else would you be willing to do if that didn’t work?

I say bull. The roof the counter-snipers were on had a much steeper angle compared to the roof the shooter was on.
Yeah. I have a sneaking suspicion that if Joe or Jill had been giving a speech there that day, that they’d have had someone up on the roof at least have had armed guards watching the building from all sides (not to mention a drone or helicopter in the air as well).
I saw on TV this morning, the head of the Secret Service was asked why the roof the shooter used was not made a secret service location. She said: “The roof of the building is sloped, not flat, and for reasons of safety for our personnel it was determined to secure the building inside and not use the roof”; in spite of that roof having clear site lines to the podium at the rally!!!!
That sounds exactly what you’d expect from a DEI choice for head of the Secret Service.
We would laugh at Hollywood for producing a movie with that plot.
The Secret Service blamed “Hate” in the City of Dallas as the reason that JFK was assassinated. The failed to mention that they were drunk the night before in Fort Worth. It is easier to blame loose targets rather than themselves. This muff diver Director will not be fired, and will not be blamed. They will pin it on MAGA and Trump.

The shooter kid had no problem. The stupid woman posted two snipers on a more sloped roof behind Trump. She doesn’t even try to make up a decent lie.
Boy, good thing Crooks didn’t go INSIDE that building!
