I tend to agree, retreat for the moment when a gun is pointed at you. What we don’t know is what followed.

When I saw 2 blacks shooting a zip gun at a Korean grocery in NY, although I was unarmed, I chased them away. I didn't do this because I was brave. I did it because it was the right thing to do.

Given what we know (and given reasonably solid footing), I would have fired “blind” over the drip-edge several rounds low to tear across the roofing—just enough to distract the shooter with roofing fragments and draw attention for the counter-snipers.
