President Trump is now breaking his silence on the assassination attempt against him during a rally on Saturday in Butler, Pennsylvania.
"I’m not supposed to be here, I’m supposed to be dead," Trump told the New York Post. "I’m supposed to be dead."
"The doctor at the hospital said he never saw anything like this, he called it a miracle," Trump also told the newspaper onboard his private plane while heading to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, for this week’s Republican National Convention. "By luck or by God, many people are saying it’s by God I’m still here."
Trump told the Post that had he not turned his head slightly to the right to read a chart on illegal immigration, the bullet that grazed him would have been fatal.
He described the Secret Service agents that rushed at him like "linebackers," mentioning another one eliminated the gunman with "one shot right between the eyes."
"They did a fantastic job," he told the Post. "It’s surreal for all of us."
As Secret Service agents rushed Trump off the stage, he was heard saying he wanted to get his shoes.
"The agents hit me so hard that my shoes fell off, and my shoes are tight," he explained to the Post.
Trump, reacting to images of him raising his fist and being surrounded by Secret Service agents in the seconds following the shooting, said, "A lot of people say it’s the most iconic photo they’ve ever seen."
"They’re right and I didn’t die. Usually you have to die to have an iconic picture," he added. "I just wanted to keep speaking, but I just got shot."

Not sure of the other folks injured but the guy killed was midwa up the stands. The sign Trump was talking about was above him. After that first shot at Trump, the shooter really lost control of his weapon.
Why would you say such a thing because he never said that.

Totally agree. He’s not like other politicians, especially the Republican ones who cannot tell the difference between rhetoric and results. Most people are sick and tired of the dodging, dissembling and denying. They want straight talk and action.

His best chance at being able to do that is to win big and come into office with a mandate from the people because the Swamp will be digging in and fortifying itself (with the help of a lot of R’s who love spending and big government just as much as the D’s do). Trump will have to strike hard and fast. Any hesitation will give the Swamp the advantage.

A small nit to pick. Not Bush, Jr. GWHB and GWB. The only Jr. that ran in 2000 was Albert Gore, Jr.
.223 rounds are effective but not that effective.
Well I have shot thousands of varmints with a 223/5.56.
Quite a few medium sized game with it 30 to 80lbs
I shot a couple dozen head of big game with it over 80lbs.
With proper the proper bullet and placement it can be a very effective round.
A solid head shot at the range mentioned is most likely 99% fatal.
But strange things happen once the bullet leaves the barrel.
Body shots can be highly fatal. But ask any good military surgeon and any solider that has survived. Their stories prove that its not always fatal.
It is not a miracle round nor is it the worse round. It is what it is.
I thought the 5.56 was just a mouse gun, suitable only for wounding not killing ...

The 223 and 5.56 is nearly identical in the ballistic profiles

.223 & 5.56mm are almost identical in size.
5.56 cartridge is a tiny bit larger.
I know. I own one. As well as a few 9s, 380s, 30-06, 22-250, 22, 000, 12g, 177 and 38.
The MSM would refer to it as an arsenal with thousands of rounds of ammunition. I would call it a starter set.
