Former US Army sniper on Trump assassination attempt: 'One of the easiest shots' (video and transcript from Fox News Jesse Watters' show)

Transcript from video (formatted by ChatGPT):

Darkness Because They Will Stop at Nothing

Jesse Watters: Let's bring in Florida Congressman and former U.S. Army sniper, Corey Mills. What kind of shot was this from 130 yards, Corey?

Corey Mills: Look, at the end of the day, this is a shot your basic training boot camp soldier is required to make within their nine weeks of training. This is one of the easiest shots; they train all the way up to 300 or 500 yards. The resident counter-sniper is not with the United States Army, but actually with the State Department, and was doing this exact thing: trying to look at going out with an advance team, establishing what the perimeter is.

As a sniper, you would set up, put together range sketches or your range fan cards, and identify the areas of threat you'd be able to mitigate. There's multiple targets; you understand your elevation and wind would not be messed with at 160 yards. You could literally glance quickly and know from reference points, whether it be a building, a lone tree, a parking lot, or maybe a road. The bottom line is massive negligence to the point of me speculating what was intentional and what was not.

Jesse Watters: Wow. You do a site survey, you're seeing this rooftop not that far away, why don't look like the counter-sniper team was a little surprised?

Corey Mills: I can only speculate and want to wait until the investigation comes out. They might have thought the local law enforcement's potential climbing up on the roof. He saw a dark object on the light roof.

Jesse Watters: You are saying maybe they misconstrued crooks for a friendly, for local law enforcement?

Corey Mills: Which is very possible. Don't speculate until the investigation is over. The bottom line is if you saw someone climbing onto a roof that you would not authorize clearance on, it has got a clear line of sight. This part is exactly adjacent to the shooting where the President was sitting. You're trying to make a pop shot; you've got people yelling, and there should've been columns. The minute that local law enforcement, who apparently had a rifle pointed at them, there should've been emergency frequency comms. A shout should've gone out: "There is a shooter on the roof!" Secret Service should've rushed the stage and taken the President off and then responded to the counter-sniper. The shot should not have gone off; that is a failure in itself.

You are supposed to be able to make sure the best security is when you go in, you are able to prevent an incident, not react to an incident. Even if you had left a law enforcement officer patrol car in that parking lot with the lights on, that could've been a deterrent. When you have nothing to enforce protection, you are encouraging disparate actions. Look, I am not sure who the individuals are on the end of the detail, Secret Service, but I can say under this Biden administration, the one thing I have seen is massive DEI hires. I can tell you when you primarily go after DEI, you end up with the IE.

Jesse Watters: You have these counter-snipers awaiting until eight rounds are fired, what accounts for that? After the first shot, you get return fire immediately.

Corey Mills: The minute a shot rang out, they should've been on scope. Your spotter should've already called the distance. If you did not look to your range card, you should immediately engage. There should've been no reason to wait. I talked to Eric Trump after the incident. Eric and I are both gun enthusiasts; we both shoot long distance. That right there is a pop shot. He did say, "I've gone out with the CS teams, and they are one of the best." He knows the actual service detail that is within. They are loyal individuals who actually do care about the President. I can say that was relayed to me.

The bottom line is this is a massive security breach. This is a huge failure, negligence at best. We have to figure out why something within 200 yards... think about this, at 200 yards, that means an average rifle that holds one minute of angle holds a 2-inch grouping if you shot it straight up the deck, meaning on a platform. You're talking 1.6 inches is what its grouping capabilities are. For the average head, which is, what, six by eight, shoulder to shoulder is 20 inches, waist to waist is 40 inches. President Trump is a very large man. This is a shot within five minutes. I could teach you to make nine out of 10 times. This is divine intervention. This is God having his protective hand, and wearing Ephesians 6, the armor of God over the President.

This right here, a millisecond or millimeter change, this is an attempted assassination. This is an assassination of a President. The devil is in Butler, Pennsylvania, but so was God.

Jesse Watters: I can say one more thing, Corey. Let's also remember King Henry II, who said, "Will no one rid me of this turbulent priest?" and his knights went out and killed the Archbishop of Canterbury. They thought that was a direct order. What do you say when President Biden says it's time to put a target on Trump? That, in my opinion, is insightful rhetoric. That is the stuff they would've gone after for the J6 stuff. So why don't we have an investigation? There needs to be a full investigation on this, absolutely. It is not to be crickets like some of these other former incidents.

I have seen a report that the SS sniper requested permission to engage (shoot, kill) Crooks 43 seconds before he fired. If he had, all we would be hearing about today is a trigger-happy SS sniper, with the media blaming MAGA. The SS sniper seemed to have an assistant with his own 0.50 and binoculars. Someone observing with binoculars should have been able to identify Crooks as a threat.

Second guessing is always perfect. Thank God for the result we got. I have not heard whether or not Crooks had a telescopic sight. With it, he probably has a pretty good chance at 100 yards, with iron sights, not so much.

Great pic, thanks for that. (I had assumed that these guys were using AR-10s, but these look like bolt guns to me...)

Uniformed SS officers have “Secret Service” printed on the front of their ballistic vests, and “POLICE” on the back. (Do an internet search for “secret service uniforms.”)

That concerns me too. What kind of rifle and did it have a scope? How have we not seen a picture of it

I heard it was a 0.50 cal. The venerable M-2 most likely, though the experts on this thread will chime in if I am wrong.

IPSC pistol competitors could have shot the bad guy in the head three or four times at that distance in .025 seconds.

I’ll take my chances with an M-2 with telescopic sights.

Divine intervention. Trump turns his head and looks directly at the shooter just as the bullet arrives and clips his ear.

Point at your right ear. Turn you head and notice what your finger is pointing at. Any other direct Trump’s head is facing at that moment and he is dead.

Let review this farce without all the noise, blame shifting and screaming being generated in the old Media today

Here is the question that must be answered.

You are a supposed highly trained, high paid security professional working for the state of the class US Secret Service. SOP is to lock down any roofs with ladder access within sniper range of a high risk target. You are assigned to guard the highest at risk target in the world.

However, magically, yesterday you total forgot to secure a roof top 150 yards from the opposition party’s political candidate. A roof top that also had line of site to the egress path the candidate would be rushed down in case of an emergency.

Magically this “random nut” penetrated your security zone, while carrying a rifle, decided to crawl up onto that roof and gets off 8 shots at said high value target before you even responded.

If random people out here can see the obvious flaws in the security set up, why did the highly paid, highly trained people running the SS miss all of them?

You nailed it. And the question is, were the flaws “missed” or was this part of the plan?

“insightful rhetoric” should be “inciteful rhetoric”.

“Insightful” means “full of insight”. IOW wise. MSNBC would say this about Biden’s comment.

“Inciteful” means “stirring up trouble”. We would say this about Biden’s comment.

Not trying to be the grammar police, but it’s a big difference, especially given the context of an attempted assassination.

"Did shooter screw up, or did Trump move his head at last millisecond, to look at the immigration chart? I’ve heard the latter. Also, Trump had an APPARENT BULLET HOLE in his suit too" This photo is being downplayed with statement that THE "HOLE " in President Trumps jacket did not appear when he was exiting stage???? Maybe, he was not looking for his shoes instead changing jacket??? He does wear a bullet-proof vest https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GSaJMUrXUAAMhvO?format=jpg&name=medium

Agreed. At 30 yards, I can shoot 1” groupings with my .22 PCP air rifle.

“...Any idiot can make that type of shot...”

But not every idiot will hit in the 10 ring - the bullseye. You need a good, steady sight picture and a trigger squeeze that doesn’t push or pull the front sight off the target. Good target shooting takes a lot of time on the range just as any other sport.
