I’m really beginning to think they let this happen.
It’s shocking that the SS is looking like the damn keystones cops. No pun intended. It would have been better for them to have said nothing at all!
I suppose this is the best those DEI hires can muster

I think it was likely more communication and incompetence of the people in charge.

The local agencies had jurisdiction outside the perimeter, including that building. Somehow, he got on the roof and they were aware he was on the roof for at least a few minutes.

However, as best as I can tell the only had people on the ground, making it very hard if not impossible to tell what exactly was going on or get a shot if needed. The USSS had snipers on the roof within the fair grounds.

IMHO, once local PD was aware, the Secret Service, who had the height advantage should have taken the lead, if you will. Why to took so long for a commanding officer to make a decision as to shoot or not as they had snipers on him for some time is rthe real question.
