Congress has never authorized the funds for widespread security for political candidates. Presidents have heavy security because they’re Heads of State. Most security at these events is provided by state and local law enforcement, the governments of which then bill the campaign for.

Having a rooftop secured at 140 yards could easily have been done by local personnel, and economically. Failure to secure the rooftop is an inexplicable blunder. And, Trump has been literally under attack for at least a year with lawfare and constant comparisons to Hitler. It is pretty obvious he is high risk.

I don’t know but that particular detail looked like the JV team. It certainly didn’t give the impression of a well practiced and prepared group of agents. That said, they did do a commendable job of trying to shield Trump, albeit in a somewhat clumsy way. The extraction process did not look well rehearsed although Trump himself was partially responsible for that (i.e., he wanted to let the crowd know he was OK).

Heard a guy state that the officer went up the ladder and when he emerged at the top the assassin aimed his rifle at him. The officer let go of the ladder and fell backwards off the ladder. Not sure if I wouldn’t have done the same if a weapon was aimed st me.
