How was he shot and killed within seconds? Were they watching him? If they were truly caught by surprise, return fire would have taken a lot longer, assuming the assassin hadn't duck back down.

If they knew he was there but he had ducked back down they should have used suppressive fire to keep his head down until the SS could get Trump out of there, and then kill him the moment he pops his head back up.

Agent’s rifle was already locked on the line of fire. He jumped when the shooter’s first shot rang out, rifle barrel went up, came straight down and the agent fired. No way to acquire the target that fast in a scope unless his rifle was already as I described above.
