One had millions of people praying for their protection for years and the other did not.

I fear Trump will really need to be overly cautious as this will bring out the demons of the Left who may be more successful and better shots.

Do you really think that’s how it works?

I know that "The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.".

You seem to want to assign survival guilt to President Trump while he is compelled to express gratitude.

I'd venture to guess President Trump is about the most grateful man alive today.

I have a cousin Chad and another Chad I know in Grande Prairie. Many of us are in the same boat as you folks and the same to lose.

With you on that point. And yes, I’m a believer. Big Time, even. Two people have been critically injured, and another was killed. WhyWhyWhy did not the SS take this lunatic out the second he put his eye to the scope, or much, much sooner? A guy with a rifle climbs on the roof of a building 150 yards from the President at campaign rally, and lives long enough to nearly assassinate him? This is very hard to believe, but this is what apparently happened. People need to immediately resign, and a new order put in place. If this is not checked, hard, it will spin out of control.

No - I have no criticism of President Trump at all
And I’m not saying people shouldn’t thank God when they are spared a tragedy.

I’m merely saying when there is a tragedy that strikes a bunch of people, like a mass shooting or a plane crash - care must be taken so that the families of people that died don’t have to listen to survivors talking about how merciful God is.

It’s just tone deaf.. read the room.

I’m just suggesting a better bedside manner - that’s all.

Yes, I heard the same thing about the a guy trying to minutes to get someone’s attention on that.

I think that perhaps he wasn’t sure if it was part of the detail or something, or he’d of tried a lot harder or raised much more fuss. Most folks don’t want to attract attention to themselves and therefor usually try the quietest approach.

Either way, God isn’t done yet.

Had they succeeded, I doubt we’d be talking, my bet was there would be war. I don’t think it’s avoidable regardless and I’ve expressed that many times over the years. As gen X I feel responsible to hand off a huge mess to our future generations. As it stands, the future is looking bleak.

Yes. 100%!.

We are nothing without God, no hope, no future, no love or life.

I’m praying he uses gen X to take a firm stand. It’s the last of the old guard.

A valid consideration in many if not most similar tragedies but this one is set apart and Trumps approach is Trumps approach. He's acknowledging God first and in the same breath also expressing genuine condolences.

I bet we hear a lot more about Gods providence from Trump in the future. It is no small thing to be touched by the hand of Almighty God.

oh, I get it now, I was taking Trump’s “fight” to mean fight back, but not with violence. You, being a man, went with the manly definition. I just get frustrated when conservatives are proud of themselves for saying and doing nothing, letting the liberals in their presence win by default. good heavens, who mentioned jail time or assaulting the couple? You can certainly say “I disagree” or “Here’s why you are wrong..” without assaulting anyone! We can only win people to our side plus encourage those already on our side to not fear speaking up by doing so, calmly and logically. Leave it to the liberals to act irrationally, then everyone will see them for who they are. Thank you for the effort you are putting in locally, that’s very important.

Gosh, golly, thanks so much, Missy! Your 2 part ramble of "processing" is fascinating! (It's no wonder to me why you chose your screen name.)

My comment was directed at outspokenly religious people who seem to have a blind spot when it comes to talking about tragedy in terms of God’s providence.

I concur with you re. the "blind spot" (I'd call it an "unwillingness to consider alternate standpoints") many "outspokenly" (or even "self-righteously") religious people sometimes display.

In the case at hand, re. "Divine Providence," I don't claim to be infallible - my personal interpretation could very well be wrong; perhaps I stated my case with too much confidence or even cock-suredness. In actual fact, I was simply offering a tentative possible interpretation.

(You, however, appeared quite strident and unaccepting of alternate positions. Your - now repeated - statement that you "don't expect" me to understand likewise seems rather condescending. Do you really expect that dismissive tone to "de-escalate" a verbal exchange?)

Maybe we conservatives are all still a little shocked and hence "touchy" about the whole matter.

President Trump is sometimes a little clumsy or blunt in his formulations, but I maintain that the term "unthinkable" in reference to his possibly being killed - even if some other innocent actually was killed - is appropriate and requires no further elucidation or defense.

I doubt that even his political enemies will attempt to "make hay" with that wordage. We conservatives certainly shouldn't fixate on it.

Regards,
