There is the flight crack, muzzle report, and echoes to deal with when using sound. The flight crack will be heard at right angles to trajectory, then the muzzle, then echoes of the two. Sometimes you hear bullet impact, too.

It’s now known that multiple people were trying to point out the guy with the rifle to the Secret Service. But then he was taken out rather quickly by them. The combination of those two things seems a little odd.
