.22 and above can peirce a skull at close enough range. 9mm especially at a few yards.

I fully believe it was a 9mm from outside the rally perimeter, probably with a handgun.
without knowing anything else, I expect the guy to have fired from 400-500 feet away at minimum. everyone here is giving me shit for saying what I am saying, and ignoring the distance is a factor.
