A junior sailor has been punished after he tried to access President Joe Biden's restricted medical records while searching through a government database in February, the U.S. Navy revealed Tuesday.
The incident took place on Feb. 23, and the unidentified sailor searched "Joseph Biden" three times, a U.S. official told ABC News.
"On February 26, 2024, Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command (NMRTC) Fort Belvoir was notified of an unauthorized access to medical records by an active-duty service member," the U.S. Navy said in a statement. "A Sailor assigned to NMRTC Fort Belvoir searched the name 'Joseph Biden' in MHS Genesis, the Military Health System's electronic health record, out of curiosity. A co-worker reported the Sailor's breach of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)."
It's unknown what records the sailor may have pulled up but it was not Biden's record, according to the Navy.
The Naval Criminal Investigative Service immediately began an investigation after they were alerted about the search and the probe concluded on April 24, according to the Navy.
The sailor was administratively punished and continues to serve in the Navy, the U.S. official said.

This would be about as fruitless an effort as if you googled "President Biden's personal cell phone number."

I worked on electronic medical records for over 20 years, finishing my career on the EMR’s security team. They’re probably in the database but under a pseudonym that only the staff caring for him know. That’s the most common and medically safest way celebrities and VIPs are handled in electronic medical record systems. And there would be a flag on his record that would immediately notify the security team if someone else even looked for the record, let alone looked at it.. There are plenty of other security protocols in place.
That sailor should have been kicked out of the Navy for stupidity. We can’t afford to have morons serving in the military.

Maybe a secret access password like “Goofy Guy” or “Dementia Daddy” would have opened it.

I’d guess searching certain names would result in an immediate red flag.

Gee. I hope he doesn’t wind up.......accidentally dead, like.......
If President Trump filed his return electronically and I would imagine his tax preparer did, then it could only have come from the computer system. And that would always leave a trace.
If it was mailed in then it would have gone through some sort of mail receiving system.
