Yep. Part of the the attraction of auto racing is the internal combustion engine itself — the noise, the skill in fine-tuning it, keeping it running. Nobody wants to sit in the stands and watch silent EVs circle the track. They can do that at home playing video games. Of course the “engine” fires would be spectacular . . .

I agree. That continuous whine/whoosh is less than entertaining.
For some reason the road track e-formula racing isn’t quite as bad. Still no cool ICE sounds, but the continual acceleration aand braking (I forget if they use regenerative braking) keeps your interest a little better..
