If they are releasing him, then they obviously didn’t beat and torture him enough.

BTW - Why are they releasing prisoners??? Has HAMAS release any Israeli’s?

It was a large number - at least 50 prisoners - including prominent figures such as the Director of the hospital. However, Netanyahu seems annoyed, and claimed he had not been consulted.

Could this unexpected move have anything to do with the reports of a break-through in cease-fire negotiations?

I few days ago I watched the Fauda episode in which the good guys track terrorists to the Shifa hospital in Gaza and find that much of the terrorist activity is managed in a room in the bottom floor of the hospital.

It was chilling to realize that was made before the Oct 7 attacks, and before the IDF made it plain to the world that, yes, the Gazans were using the hospital for that.

I believe they are releasing prisoners to see where they go, what they do and who they make contact with. It is an intelligence gathering operation. And since everyone has moved around since these terrorists were captured, it would be interesting to see what their next moves are.
