The enemy of my enemy: Biden admin weighs working with the Taliban to combat ISIS-K

Facing a growing global terrorist threat, Biden administration officials are debating expanding cooperation with the Taliban regime in Kabul to help track ISIS-K, the branch of the terrorist group active in Afghanistan, according to two sources familiar with the matter and a former U.S. official.

The administration and other Western governments are scrambling to keep up with the mounting danger ISIS-K poses. Before this year, U.S. and other Western officials believed ISIS-K had the intent but not the ability to orchestrate attacks abroad. But that view changed with the horrific attack at Moscow’s Crocus City Hall concert venue on March 22.

But the U.S. military’s withdrawal from Afghanistan and declining Western influence in Africa have weakened Washington’s capacity to gather intelligence on the various offshoots of ISIS.

“We have a very, very limited ability to see what they’re doing,” said a former military officer with experience in the region.

Does anyone believe that the Taliban only does business between 10 and 4 eastern time and that slow Joe is on top of this?

Also, what recent American president and his top female adviser promoted Arab/Muslim interests over those of the US?

Asking for a friend…

If reports out of India are to be believed, the Taliban is slowly backing away from the “Austere Scholar” model. They’re trying to start acting like a legitimate government, and as a result they’re slowly being forced to start acting reasonable. Sometimes willingly, sometimes despite their inclinations, because there really is only one really workable model for a functioning society, and that’s a society without the kind of repression they used to impose.

I’m not saying they’re angels at all, but they really do seem to be trying (at least somewhat, and at least for now) to make a go of governing Afghanistan legitimately.

For example, apparently they found a compromise that they can accept that allows girls to go back to school. They have built separate schools for the girls. They’re negotiating deals with India for things like rice and other staples in exchange for raw materials like cement. And most promisingly, the Taliban are shunning Pakistan, which ought to remove one of the strongest terrorism impetuses in the region from their society.

Pretty sure the tolly bons would be better off dealing with ISIS on their own rather than collaborating with a failed infidel occupier state like America.

How many of the soldiers, spec forces, and Afghan allies that we left behind…have been killed by the tolly’s and WTH would trust working again with Americans?

I suspect we are just trying to preempt a regional security bloc ( which cooperates with Russia) or otherwise remain relevant in a part of the Rimland abandoned to chaos by Joe’s crack foreign policy and defense teams.

What? Work with a proxy of Islam to destroy a proxy of Islam? Adherents will cut the heads off the moronic infidels.
