An opportunity has presented itself to President Trump to dictate the future course of this election. He can wait and see if what is happening with Biden is a coup or planned event and for the DNC machine to recover. Four months is a lifetime in politics,
Or he can split the Democratic Party into two camps now placing them in a continuous struggle for power in the party.
Why legitimize him / give RFKJr (or his platform) more attention?

If this is the quickest and an effective method of dividing the opposition, of course it is not the only method and maybe someone in the Trump campaign has a plan we have not heard of yet.
No one should underestimate them or figure the battle is won or done.
The only reason this is even feasible is because President Trump has the ability to draw a crowd and draw attention to himself. He needs to use that asset to his advantage.
Maybe this is not the best option but it should be an option to consider. The window of opportunity will close very quickly.

You know, I can see that idea possibly backfiring. Not sure why Trump as the front-runner would want to give a platform to RFK Jr. Sure, RFK might siphon more votes away from Biden, but he also might siphon some away from Trump. Remember, there are a lot folks out there who don’t particularly like Biden AND Trump. So why put wind in the sails of another opponent?

So the question becomes does President Trump sit on his lead at the moment and wait. Or does he legitimize and alternative candidate with the potential of taking some of his votes.
We can use current polling scenarios to help with this answer and we see Kennedy pulls evenly from both. Prior to legitimizing him as the real Dem opponent

Well, if we’re to become Trump vs. Kennedy, it takes away the argument of a former rapist in the White House. Also the convicted felon argument goes away. We know RFKjr is both.

The opposition (to us conservatives) is already severely divided. Various faction are slugging it out amongst themselves. There's still a good chance that Biden will be their candidate, come Election Day. Let's not take the spotlight off doddering, bumbling Biden just yet by lending strength (through legitimacy) and attention to a viable alternate candidate (RFKJr). We don't want everyone (incl. some fence-sitters) suddenly making an about-face and rallying around a Dark Horse Candidate like RFKJr.

First thing to understand the DNC will most likely let loose on President Trump in September along with the MSM. His poll numbers will not be what we see today.
The opportunity is for President Trump to declare RFK Jr as the Kennedy Democrat in the race and split the Democratic party.
It is taking the bull by the horns and not waiting for the bull to come at you from a running start.
But then there is always hope God intervenes and saves us all.
I am reminded of the old joke of a man who is on top of a house that is getting flooded out asking God to save him from the flood. But just prior to this an officer had knocked on the door asking him to evacuate and then a rescue team came by boat at the second story window. But he replied to them not to worry God will save me.
And while he was drowning on top of the house he asks God I thought you would save me. And God answered I sent you the officer and the boat but you turned them away.
