Former Harlem Congressman Charles Rangel — who is 94 years old — wondered whether President Biden belongs in a nursing home instead of the White House following last week’s debate disaster.
“I have never been more shocked and embarrassed by any presidential debate than I was last Thursday,” Rangel, who served in Congress from 1971 to 2017, said Sunday on 770 WABC radio’s “The Cats Roundtable.”
“One [candidate is] a convicted felon who has no respect for the truth, for morality. The other seemed so damned confused I didn’t even know whether he knew where the hell he was at in terms of responding to the moderator.”
Rangel, a Democrat, told host John Catsimatidis he “would not object” to both candidates taking cognitive tests to determine their fitness. Trump is 78, just three years younger than Biden.
“It’s clear that Biden was shaky in responding … One has to think about what happens in [the next] four years.”
Biden’s debate performance was so troubling that voters have to be reminded that Trump could be sentenced to prison time for his conviction in the Stormy Daniels hush money case, Rangel said.
He said in most states Republicans and Democrats will vote for their party nominee despite their flaws, and the election comes down to seven battleground states.
“If Trump is in jail, Republicans will vote for him. If Biden is in a nursing home, [the Democrats] are going to vote for him,” he said.
But Rangel wasn’t ready to abandon Biden, noting he was good on the stump the day after the debate.
“He was so on point, so articulate. He was better than he was at the State of the Union [address]. And I wondered, ‘Where the hell was that Joe Biden [during the debate]?'” he said.

I’m pretty sure Charlie said this at 10AM this morning while reading from a teleprompter.
For some reason I get the impression that when Joe fades away from the scene, that Jill won’t have a satisfying social life, something that I have never felt about other president’s wives.
The Reagans and the Bushes seemed to have full lives and friends outside of being president, Hillary had power and a political career, the Carters had each other and lives and interests of their own, I wonder if anyone likes Jill and/or if she is seen as having any value aside from the power her husband wielded, which will be gone.

I always had respect for Charlie. He’s a Korean
war vet. He’s an old-fashioned Democrat, not a progressive. He disagreed with Ronald Reagan but had a respectful, friendly relationship with him.
He’s a New Yorker, but not as nasty as most of them, such as Bernie Sanders.
I can’t believe he’s still alive and of sound mind.
Why was everyone shocked and embarrassed? We’ve been seeing this behavior since Biden’s VP days. He actually did better than I expected.
I figured he would walk over and hug a 6-foot tall white, invisible rabbit.
And to think that right up to Thursday evening, democrats across the board were salivating about the beating Biden was going to give Trump that night.
They are in disarray. I have never seen anything like it!
Charles Rangel has no authority to criticise Donald Trump's legal issues.
Rangel took over for the corrupt Adam Clayton Powell and enlarged the territory. Rangel barely escaped being expelled from Congress for corruption; he did get censured.
I suspect if Trump had done what Rangel got caught doing he would be facing 150 years in federal prison.

Admit I was surprised Geraldo Rivera is 80. Knew Alan Dershowitz was 85 and he thinks like a 30 year old.
The late Joseph Campbell was a vigorous and mentally agile age 83 when pneumonia suddenly took him. He was still writing nonfiction researched books and was on a national lecture tour of many cities as usual. Bob Dylan is 83 and still on tour of US and foreign cities, writing books and new songs for albums.
Aging really varies.
I resent the “both of them are old guys” BS for Trump and the truly aged Biden. Dirty. I was born within a few days of fellow Gemini Trump and do not want to be slandered.
