President Biden is still committed to a second debate against Donald Trump despite his abysmal showing on Thursday night.
Biden, 81, will return to the debate stage in September, CNN senior White House correspondent Kayla Tausche reported Friday morning, citing an adviser.
Biden is also not considering dropping out of the race — despite concerns from members of his own party.

President Biden likely suffers from a “cognitive disease” and should not only drop out of the presidential race but resign immediately, according to the former White House physician and current Republican Congressman who served former Presidents Barack Obama and Donald Trump.
“This is a national security issue,” Texas Rep. Ronny Jackson told The Post after Biden’s disastrous debate performance. “As an American, I think he needs to step down and he needs to be immediately removed from office.”
Before entering politics, Jackson served as Obama’s personal physician between 2013 and 2016.
He served as Trump’s between 2016 and 2018.
Trump raised Jackson’s name during the Thursday debate, when the issue of their respective cognitive functions was raised.
Jackson, a former Navy rear admiral, said Biden’s confused and halting performance during the debate was clear evidence he is suffering from more than just normal aging.
“There is a condition. I don’t know what it is. I am not going to give him a diagnosis. It is more than just age. It is some type of cognitive disease,” Jackson said. “I don’t know if it’s Parkinson’s or Alzheimer’s, I don’t know what it is. There are a lot of diseases out there when folks get older which can cause cognitive decline.”
Jackson previously called on Biden to take a cognitive test — something Biden has not done as president.
“You aren’t going to hear me talk about cognitive tests anymore. He got one [Thursday] night in front of millions of viewers and he failed miserably,” Jackson told The Post.

Even though he is only going to deteriorate more between now and 2 months from now, he still could have a rare “good” day on that future debate day.
There is no upside for Trump to debate him again. There is only upside for Biden, since he can’t do worse than 1st debate unless he fell over and nearly died during it.
A second debate would only be an attempted “do over”! Trump needs to gracefully decline and cite the catastrophy that the world saw in the first one. Don’t give them the opportunity to retract the hanging ropes. Let them continue to deconstruct.
Trump should cancel the second debate in fear of DOJ arresting him for elder abuse.

We are enjoying this week but 4 months is a long time in politics and the last 4 months is everything.
The media can do a lot of reshaping in the next 4 months, as far as the second debate, who knows, but there is a good chance that it would be more normal, which means the media would have plenty to work with to reshape images and rewrite the campaign.
Besides Trump may be in Prison by then...
Trump could also say it would be cruel to debate Biden again due to his mental state. He should then accuse Jill Biden of elder abuse. I can just see the talking heads in the liberal media have complete meltdowns over that.

That’s 3 months away, by then he could be much worse. His wife is an utter pig. If my dad was in that condition my mom would be absolutely militant about him not working. Not Jill of course, she likes all that attention.
The next debate is scheduled after the convention. The question of replacing Biden will be settled by then. If it’s still Biden, another debate would be Trump’s to lose.
There is another possibility.
The rats saw Trump ascending bigly, and they were so sure of themselves in thinking the populace would fall for their schtick in labeling him a felon, multiple felonies, sleeping with porn stars, CHEATING on his business deals etc, that he was so dumb, and Biden was so smart and light years more bright, and with the help of every single news outlet, with CNN mods (!), that naturally Biden would overwhelm the felon on national stage and lights.
They simply chose poorly.
