A common misconception. If they are from the same state you forfeit that state’s electoral votes. 12th amendment. Trump could just declare he’s a resident of NJ, register to vote there, spends bunch of time between now and the election, and it’s fixed. Obviously the governor of the state can’t do that

Thank you. It appears you are correct. It seems that the rule only applies to a state in which which both candidates might reside.

Close. The electors have to choose one. Of course they vote Trump but can’t vote DeSantis ir Rubio. But if the ticket gets enough elsewhere it wouldn’t matter. The VP would just get 30 votes less than the Prez. If the are over 300, no problem.
