I’ve worked with animals all my life (both zoological parks and farms), and hold several degrees in animal biology.
Articles like this one just make me roll my eyes because in the end, it’s anthropomorphising (i.e. putting human characteristics and/or justifications onto animal behaviour). Yes, plenty of animal species DO engage in sexual behaviour that humans consider abnormal and/or “deviant” from time to time.
There are many possible reasons for this. However, to continue to write and publish articles making the suggestion that this is somehow reflective of an “orientation” or a “preference” is speculation, at best. At worst, all it does is reveal the the writer’s own agenda.
It’s called “pseudo-science” for a reason, after all...

Okaaaaay...
I grew up on farm.
I witnessed same sex like behavior many times but it was obviusly unthinking actions. I never saw it carried on as in a gay relationship nor to completion.
Completely unlike say the Trans community. Which are so dedicated to an unnatural life style behavior that they go to great lengths including ending their reproductive ability, shunning friends and family and even self-castration.
The 2 are worlds apart. (i also have degree in general science)
My guess would be that it is nature's way of population control when a group gets too large.
