I’m trying to learn Russian.

Take it from one who has ‘tried’ to learn Russian. The alphabet is the least of your problems! I took Russian in college a long lifetime ago and that’s the only part I still feel confident about. It’s great for writing a Christmas list my wife can’t read!

Once you learn the alphabet, Russian is reasonably phonetic. But the grammar is a killer. And every Russian name has three or four ‘nicknames’ which might or might not bear any resemblance to the actual name. That’s what makes Russian novels so difficult, even in translation.

Good luck.

I am dabbling in Russian too. Some of my model kits are from Russian manufacturers and instructions are in multiple languages. It is a fun way to learn. I also study Russian history for fun and occasionally facilitate classes at local OLLI branch through DU in Denver, Colorado.

On another topic I too was reading by first grade. Mom and dad were readers.
