Not to brag, but I’ll be sitting pretty while you peasants are hurting. And that’s because I recently found my grandmother’s ration book from WW2. And there’s no expiration date on the stamps!
Well, they didn’t have expiration stamps because they were only valid in certain time blocks that were regularly published in newspapers. They weren’t valid until the dates were announced for a given stamp code.
I've got a ration book from my Aunt who was married to my father's brother. Can't wait for the blackmarket offers.
I don’t know if you are pulling my leg or not, but those are pretty cool to have as reminders. Except this time around it will be digital at the pay point with your card. Want to buy a pound of bacon? Nope, you already bought a pound this week, you have to wait three more days before it will let you. Want to buy some burger, nope, not today it is meatless Monday.
