Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) and state legislators struck a deal this weekend to close a $47 billion budget deficit — and agreed to spend $12 million to implement proposals to provide reparations for slavery.

The Sacramento Bee reported:

The budget agreement California Gov. Gavin Newsom and Democratic leaders announced Saturday sets aside $12 million to help the state implement a series of reparations-related bills lawmakers hope will pass this year.

12 million, just enough to go to the families of various politicians around the state.

With a budget of 268 billion, 13 million is small. Further, by the time you finish with the ‘government administrative graft’ virtually nothing will be delivered to the people. It a ‘token’ to say they did something, when they didn’t.

Here the real issue is that the number of taxpayers and businesses fleeing California, while the simultaneous increase in the ‘spenders’, even with inflation, is going to make generating that tax revenue a huge challenge. California is financially circling the drain. The more you tax now the more the rich flee and safety , infrastructure, and security degrades. Expansion in a business is far easier than contraction, The State of California is going to have to learn some new tricks.

CA can do any stupid thing they want, because the rest of us will end up paying their bills.

It’s not stupid.

This was never about reparations.

It’s about growing the bureaucracy.

And it’s working.

12 million and nobody has asked for specifics. What is the expected outcome and what are the qualifications? If you’re a Californian, you’re a battered spouse of the State.

Kalifornia, the state of the stupid. It’s a terminal disease that is eating away at that once great state and will keep eating until it is totally destroyed. Mass ignorance where they keep voting themselves into total destruction. Sadly, they are our nation’s leader in self destruction and it has spread to other once great states and to this great nation as a whole.

Come on folks. You don’t have to read the entire article, just the posted part. The $12M is just for a fund to help study some bills to implement the bigger end result. I’d be worth $12M to shut them up on this issue but no, it’s going to get a lot more expensive.

Check out the article. The $12M is for high end kabuki theatre:

“The money would help support proposals endorsed by the caucus, including having the state apologize for inflicting harm on Black Californians and allowing slavery to occur in the state.”

Blacks are around 5% of the population of this state. Mark my words: the people of this state will absolutely not tolerate a vast wealth transfer to these people, and certainly not a sum that’s 250% of the entire state budge. Newsom will not sign any appropriations bill that looks like it’s within a light year of what’s being planned. If he did it would be overturned by referendum. The people of this state are stupid, but they’re not THAT stupid

$12 million to implement proposals to provide reparations for slavery.

Yep. Californians gotta pay for being a slave state in the past, right?

I'm sure California's 55% Hispanics and Asians won't mind that at all, not at all. They need to be held accountable for slavery in California too, right?

The people of this state are stupid, but they’re not THAT stupid

Unfortunately, they are. They keep voting repeatedly for the same lefties such as Schiff, Pelosi and Newsom.

I know there is a lot of vote fraud here, but still mass numbers continue to vote for this.

One look at the state of San Francisco, with its poop map, mass homeless (over 800 people died on the streets last year alone from drugs) closed businesses, and Los Angeles, tells you all you need ot know as to what voters accept and continue to repeatedly accept.

If he did it would be overturned by referendum.

California just had a referendum, to limit taxes.

The state court said the referendum was invalid.
