In a typical leftist legal scam, the Environmental NGO Riverkeeper, lead by Robert F. Kennedy Jr., aligned with Cuomo to conduct lawfare against the plant, until it finally was finally approved for closure in 2017
The plant provided 2000MW, and was 35% of NYC and downstate electricity supply.

These energy shortage predictions are getting to be like the predicted global warming catastrophes. They never happen. Let’s see a break down.
It’s the cheating Rats in key urban areas that have stained the entire state. It’s otherwise Red throughout.
The plan over time:
1). “Smart” thermostats for every home and office which can be controlled centrally. In the winter, heating temperatures of buildings are lowered to lower demand. In summer thermostat settings are raised.
2) Rolling brownouts and blackouts during periods of high demand.
3). Shifting of power over the grid from rural and suburban areas to urban centers and from red states to blue states.
4). Blame utilities, corporations, political opponents and climate change using compliant media. Condemn and shame selfish consumers.
5). Nationalize utilities under control of central government planners. Central planners direct investment and allocate increasingly scarce power across the nation.
6). Censor press reporting of power outages then deny the shortages exist. Criminalize communication of climate misinformation.
7). Force conversion to electric vehicles, then severely restrict electric vehicle ownership and use. Limit the number of vehicles per household and miles driven per individual vehicle, cutting of vehicles when daily limits reached.
8). End private single family home ownership and rental. Force the masses into tiny apartments in cheaply constructed massive apartment complexes to save energy. Set increasingly smaller allocations of power to each housing unit and cut off power to housing units when power limits are reached.
9). End long distance transportation (aviation, trains, interstate buses) for the masses to save energy and prevent the masses from relocating.
10). Forced population control to save the planet. Limits on children. Forced euthanasia of the elderly. Ration life saving treatments in the healthcare system. Capital punishment for crimes against the state.
11). Food rationing to reduce energy required for agriculture. Rationing used to starve populations resisting central control with the side benefit of lower energy consumption.
To summarize, the plan is to increase government control over the population and then reduce the population to save the planet. Creating and energy shortages and giving government absolute power to manage increasingly scarce energy consumption is the essential component of the plan. Politicians and bureaucrats understand the end game.
