Speaking of assisted suicide this happened recently.

Nuremberg trials anyone?

I'm not surprise you all. First they went from doctors that did abortions then nurse practitioners were allowed. What wrong? Not enough people to do the killing?

This won’t create a conflict of interest.

License to kill.

I know personally of nurses injecting dying patients with morphine to make them more “comfortable.” I think it is done routinely in both hospitals and nursing homes, but on the downlow.

allow advanced practice registered nurses to participate because very few doctors participate in assisted suicide.

Will they open it up to plumbers and garbage men if they can't get enough nurses?

I'm surprised that Planned Barrenhood hasn't moved into this. They really, really like killing.

How long will it be before they allow a family member to make the decision for the person who will be terminated? The problem with laws like this is that the law keeps shifting from the original intent.

Soon it won’t be a personal decision, but someone else’s decision for that person of whether they live or die.

When judgment finally hits, the nation will have no one to blame but itself.

All these self-destructive behaviors reflecting The Culture of Death as the late John Paul II called it. Abortion, Euthanasia, Assisted Suicide, etc. All in tandem with the approval of their other twisted behaviors, i.e., promoting the gay agenda, trans assignment surgery, etc. A society in the throes of self-destruction and applauded by its promoters. Evil to the bone, with nothing good ever coming from it. It will be more obvious as time marches on. The tragedy continues.

First the Babies, then the Old People, then, according to Bill Ayres: “Those who do not accept the new way of thinking (Communism) will have to be killed..”
This means YOU.

My wife works as an advanced practice nurse in a Level III NICU (but not as an NP). She has also performed pediatric home care for the consequences of surival of severely traumatic birth and development. Over 35 years, the stories she has brought home range from inspiring to horrifying, the latter demonstrating of how technology has made it possible to keep babies that would otherwise have died in a state no human should have to suffer.

If by some miracle they do survive eventual withdrawal of umbilical support the great majority face a lifetime of disability to a wide range of degrees and types. A good many become little more than a body requiring outrageously expensive care with no possibility of a productive life. Yet there are miracles. Most every NICU nurse and by far the majority of affected families becomes attached to these children, and the longer they care, the stronger becomes that bond. That makes losing these children especially hard after all that labor and expense.

Technology has changed early child care to the point that humans are simply not equipped ethically, morally, emotionally, or financially to be certain of the associated decisions to sustain or withdraw support, much less killing out of "kindness." There are no optimal answers in such cases but the lost opportunity cost both to the families and society of prolonged NICU care is an outrage. Yet what may be worse is what institutionalizing these decisions may do to us ethically.

While I disparage making these choices flippantly, I am glad our Federal system allows States to experiment and learn how to deal with the many consequences of advanced medical technology justly and humanely. Some will probably be needlessly callous. Others will be happy to break the bank. But to spend an infinite amount of resources on any one case is effectively to deny the rest. Resources are finite. There are no perfect answers and the rate at which we are presented these dilemmas will only increase as technology advances.

i guess i don’t understand what it means for an “advanced practice registered nurse” to “prescribe” a lethal poison ... do they get that from a pharmacy like at Walmart or somewhere? So fo Walmart or other pharmacies stock lethal poisons to be used to kill people with?
