I’m kinda cheap by nature. So I’m ashamed to say that I never tipped much. Then one day I was dining with a friend. I left 10% as a tip. My friend gave me a hard look. “Nobody is getting rich working at a restaurant. If you can’t afford to leave a good tip, you can’t afford to eat out.”
He was right. I now leave 20% for adequate service. More for good service. What about for poor service? Still 20%. I’m thinking the server was probably just having a bad day. We all have bad days.
