Somebody wrote the other day that the “Juneteenth” holiday is no more violent than any other holiday.
Celebrate the anniversary of the end of slavery in Texas, by shooting people? What the heck?

Constantly calling attention to past wrongs will not help the nation move past them. Juneteenth is bogus because slavery did not officially end until December 6, 1865, with the passage of the 13th Amendment.

Let’s don’t let facts get in the way of the narrative.
My namesake from West Tennessee fought for the Union, owned slaves and didn’t have to free them until the passage of the 13th Amendment. His home in West Tennessee was under Union occupation when the “Emancipation Proclamation” was made and therefore he was exempt from Lincoln’s edict. Many people that fought for the Union or the Confederacy didn’t give a whim about slavery.
They were just celebrating being free and able to kill each other with such ease on their day off
