Trump raves about Vivek Ramaswamy at Wisconsin rally: ‘He’s going to be with us in some form’

RACINE, Wis. — Former President Donald Trump heaped praise on ex-presidential rival Vivek Ramaswamy at his Tuesday afternoon rally in Wisconsin — pleasing supporters who want the fiery entrepreneur on the 2024 ticket.

“If I gave it to Vivek to do, he’d pull it off,” declared the presumptive Republican nominee, referring to his administration’s tariff negotiations with French President Emmanuel Macron.

“He’s gonna be with us in some form,” said Trump of Ramaswamy as he repeatedly referenced and spoke to the former presidential candidate during his speech.

He’s a “smart guy.”

As VP, no way. As a member of the cabinet, or something like that. . .

I don't see anything worthy of a red alert here. As I read Trump's comment, that's why he put in, "in some form."

Vivek is sparky, conservative, and very smart, but I don't see Presidential or VP material in him either, even if he were NBC.

Prove he doesn't have Indian citizenship. I recall seeing it mentioned, but haven't seen anything recent. I don't recall any interview where he was asked if he is still an Indian citizen or if he renounced it and when. Until otherwise, since he was born of two Indian citizen parents, raised in an Indian family, retained their culture and religion, travels to/from India, married an Indian, raising his kids as Indian, I'll rightly presume that he is still an Indian citizenship.

Dual citizenship is legal in the US, questionable if it is true as president for dual-loyalty, but we've see others recently with two or more citizenships. I don't like it an as a voter I will NEVER vote for a candidate in any role that holds foreign citizenship.

True, his folks weren't born here, and I guess only Mom is a citizen?

But his positions on immigration issues and how the law should be revised and enforced are awesome and way more hard-core and logical than what's now on the books--never mind what's enforced.

The writers at NBC News's web site were practically crying into their laptops as they described his positions. Real schadenfreude moment for me, gotta say.

Smart as a whip, too.

He did tell a friend of mine in a personal conversation that he was not going to asked to be VP.

You lack evidence that he is no longer an Indian citizen. As both of his parents were Indian citizens, he was born an Indian citizen. If you want to argue he is not or is no longer an Indian citizen, then show some proof.

And as you defend Ramaswamy, consider your stands with Harris, Haley, Rubio, Cruz, and others. Harris was born of two non-citizen parents, they were deported to Canada, where she grew up. She's not a natural born citizen in my opinion. Haley, born of two Indian citizen parents, again same issue. Rubio, born of Cuban citizen refugees, has Cuban and US citizenship, Cruz, born in Canada of Cuban and American parents (heck, even before he ran for president he discussed as a constitutional scholar how he didn't qualify as a natural born citizen).

You might like Ramaswammy, which is fine, but let us be clear about who is constitutionally qualified and acceptable as president or VP. And, as well, since the courts avoid giving anyone standing to raise the issue, how we might choose at the ballot box. That's always my and other people's bottom line, I and some others won't vote for anyone we don't see as a natural born citizen.

Tucker Carlson would make a good press secretary. Quick on his feet, has common sense, and I think would be a great spokesman for Trump.

And Ramaswamy has been especially passionate about the controversial idea of ending access to birthright citizenship for children born in the U.S. to undocumented immigrants. That has long been guaranteed under the 14th Amendment, which states: “All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States.”

Ramaswamy, 38, was born in the U.S. to two noncitizens, which means he gained citizenship through birthright, though he noted that his parents immigrated to the country legally.

“I want to be very clear about this. I think that birthright citizenship does not and should not apply to the kids of parents who entered this country illegally,” Ramaswamy added.

“Here’s the policy we’re going to apply — this is where I’ve been clear — the kid of illegal immigrants and the families who came here undocumented have to be returned to their country of origin,” he said.
