He’s clearly going to run at some point. It’s just a matter of when is the right time. And he’s going to be formidable. He’s great in the retail in-person politics and great on camera. He has managed to be almost coated in Teflon so far during his term - no bad events or news sticks to him.
He also seems to be genuinely nice and decent. There’s video of him shotgunning a beer with fans at a Ravens game. He relates well to people without seeming awkward.
There will be Obama comparisons because he seems almost too polished, but he’s a better politician than Obama. He doesn’t have the smarm and off-putting tone that Obama did/does.
The trick for him will be to make his Maryland-friendly political views seem palatable nationally. So far he has avoided any tax increases or toll increases, which is the sure sign he plans on running for higher office.
I want to add Gavin Newsom.
Both Obama and Newsom appeared Elitist to me.
I didn't get that feel from Wes Moore. So far, he reminds me a little of Dubya.
Too early to tell, though.
All true, with many thanks to the worthless Maryland Republican Party. This guy is claiming it will take 4 years to rebuild the Key Bridge. Instead of our nit-wit MD GOP going out and castigating him—the bridge should take 18 months or less to rebuild—they favor bipartisanship.
No new poll taxes and swigging a beer at a football game sounds like a winning presidential campaign message. Good thing you caught that so we can be prepared.
I’d put Beshear of Kentucky in the same category, with the added advantage of already having won in a red state.
