The pact secures Russian and North Korean cooperation on security, investment and humanitarian concerns

Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean supreme leader Kim Jong Un signed a mutual aid pact on Wednesday, bringing the two nations closer than ever since the fall of the Soviet Union.

The pact, which both leaders emphasized is a landmark agreement between the countries, reportedly covers defensive security, humanitarian relief, trade and investment concerns.

Putin thanked Kim on Wednesday for North Korea's "unwavering support" of the ongoing invasion of Ukraine.

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Tuesday claimed Putin's visit was part of a desperate attempt to maintain international allies despite the increasingly drawn out invasion.

"We’ve seen […] Russia try, in desperation, to develop and to strengthen relations with countries that can provide it with what it needs to continue the war of aggression that it started against Ukraine," said Blinken.

He added that the U.S. will "do everything we can to cut off the support that countries, like Iran and North Korea, are providing."

you’re right. It would open another front and divide the forces in an area the US already lost a war

Don’t quite understand your “lost” comment, but if it refers to Korean War. Lost is not quite the word I would use. South Korea Still exists, right?

As to north attacking the south, perhaps un is as much a master strategist as putin

70 some years later and the war is still unresolved, hostilities have stopped, and there is still a DMZ, so by any measure the US lost

“70 some years later and the war is still unresolved, hostilities have stopped, and there is still a DMZ, so by any measure the US lost”

Thank you for your pro-feudalism insight. Everyone on FR pines for the days of serfdom Americans revolted against 240 years ago.

Let’s review:

North Korea invaded South Korea.
North Korea did not conquer South Korea.
Ergo, North Korea lost.

Russia invaded Ukraine.
Russia has not conquered Ukraine.
Ergo, Russia is losing.

“... that the US was fighting communism, which is still there”

Historical revisionism FAIL

There was nothing about “fighting communism” in UN Security Council Resolution 82. It was about forcing North Korean withdrawal to the 38th parallel.

The north invaded, South Korea was down to a very territory, US, South Koreans and allied nations fought them back all the way to Chinese border, Chinese invaded with hundreds of thousand of fighters and the war ended basically at the borders that the war started at.

South Korea exists, north is a dark desperate place

Win? Maybe not. Lost definitely not

They were uniting regardless of Sleepyand then particularly Rec Chinese-North Korea cooperation was all throughout the Trump administration AND previous (Dem) administrations… It’s been a bipartisan disaster all the way around Regardless, I have no favor for the North Korean/Russian alliance in support of invasion of Ukraine but sad to say some people who call themselves “conservatives” and “anti-Communist” here in free republic insanely support Moscow and Pyongyang in this illegal action … You couldn’t have made this up 10 years ago
