People don’t see it. Putin is adding nations in his Axis. Kim wants a spot at the table. North Korea gives Russia weapons, and rockets, Russia gives back Oil and Food Grains, both they have lots of to give. Worse they can give Kim better rocket designs and ways to make nukes smaller and more deadly. Now, Putin is off to Hanoi and Vietnam, once a friend of the US, now inching towards Russia. Getting them to sign on a treaty would be a feather in his cap. Want war with Moscow? You will have to fight a cabal of nations. Want to risk Nuke War or WW III? Better have a bigger army and navy. Now the Axis is Russia, China, Iran, Syria, North Korea, and who knows, maybe Cuba, Serbia, Vietnam, Venezuela, and South Africa? How many of our allies can we count on besides England and Canada? France? Germany? maybe Poland. Putin is playing the old 18th Century game of “The Great Game power politics. In this game we have a weak hand at the poker table. A pair of kings only.

I wonder how bunker busters would affect the repair time of railroads by massive cratering and soil destabilization?

Indeed.

The Kremlin neocons (neo-soviets) in Moscow are doing a great work destroying mother Russia’s economy.

I don't think it would significantly affect repair times. Yes a 2,000lb bomb leaves a larger crater but a 500lb bomb crater still needs to be filled and compacted before laying ballast and track.

The crater left by a 2,000lb bomb will just need more fill and compacting before fresh ballast and track can be laid.

I was talking about the deep penetrator bombs but I can’t find how large a crater they make and what effect they have on the ground.

This was already in the works in 2022.

I don't have a lot to go on about deep penetrating bombs other than from videos I've watched.

My sense is that as the bomb bores deeper, the amount of overburden increases. Surface cratering will therefore reduce as the bomb goes deeper since more and more material has to be displaced.

Different models of those bombs would have different effects and I wonder if what it does to the soil and with cratering would make repairing rails more difficult and time consuming, just replacing twisted metal and ties and some of the berm is so routine and quick.
