Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has criticised plans announced by the military on Sunday to hold daily tactical pauses in fighting along one of the main roads into Gaza to facilitate aid delivery into the Palestinian enclave.

The military had announced the daily pauses from 8am local time (3pm AEST) until 7pm in the area from the Kerem Shalom Crossing to the Salah al-Din Road and then northwards.

"When the prime minister heard the reports of an 11-hour humanitarian pause in the morning, he turned to his military secretary and made it clear that this was unacceptable to him," an Israeli official said ...

This is unexpected. Why is the Prime Minister of Israel not on the same page with his military commanders?

And why are they scheduling supplies behind enemy lines to prolong the conflict?!

It is aid for the civilians - and, although the article does not mention this - it is during the time of Eid - a religious festival. I wonder if that idea played a part.

Hey!

This is no different than when the Allies paused their trade blockade so Europe would not starve in 1917/18 and 1944/45....

Oh, wait. It must of been Japan in 1945...hmmm....nope there , too.

Never mind.

oh yes of course... aid for ‘the civilians’

Why is it that we have to keep repeating this lesson in the gaza.

All aid goes to hamas.

Yeah, because like the “pauses” in Vietnam, the enemy will use the “pauses” to move weapons in materiel, not aid.

it is treason to resupply the enemy which has attacked you and slaughtered 1300 innocent citizens in their beds (and at a music concert)
and which is still attacking you and holding some of your people hostage

these “military commanders” who believe that they are, instead, communist party welfare workers, need to be FIRED !

To even think of doing such a thing, that will inevitably enable the enemy to prolong the fighting and its attacks on your people, is REVOLTING

Because they are collectively horrible military leaders. Objectively, this war has been going on for 8 months. Israel spends about 100 times more than Hamas. That’s not a good return if you ask me. If all that money cant overwhelm the enemy then it’s really not worth spending.

“It is aid for the civilians…”

There are no civilians in Gaza.

What a clever idea, even the PM plays along.

I won’t reveal why it is a great idea here, but think about what the whole operation involves.

Not sure. Announces, denounces, Wars aren’t fought by announcements. IDF says”pause”...goes after HAMAS anyway.
In a time of war I wouldn’t believe announcements. Could be a Psyop....

During Eid Gaza doesn’t eat during the day so doesn’t need any food those hours. They are sleeping off the overnight feasting. Sounds like a good time for IDF to act.
