A member of the U.S. Secret Service was robbed at gunpoint Saturday night in California during President Joe Biden's high-profile fundraising swing.
Scripps News reported Monday that officers from the Tustin Police Department responded to a call and found that the victim was a member of the Secret Service who had fired off his own gun during the robbery.
It is unclear if the perpetrator was injured and by Monday afternoon the Tustin, California Police Department said it was still investigating the incident.
Secret Service spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi confirmed to Scripps that a member of the U.S. Secret Service was the victim in the robbery.
'The employee discharged their service weapon during the incident but unknown if the assailants were struck,' Guglielmi said.
'We are thankful that the employee did not sustain any injuries,' he added.
Some of the Secret Service official's belongings have since been found.
The robber escaped in a silver Infiniti, with Tustin police including a photograph of the vehicle, while calling on members of the public to provide tips.
It wasn't immediately clear if the Secret Service employee had been tasked with protecting Biden on the Los Angeles trip.
Biden returned to his hotel Saturday shortly before 9 p.m.
Tustin is located in nearby Orange County, California - and police responded to the call at 9:36 p.m.

Indeed. Just like New York City, Chicongo or San Francisco.
He did, he fired at the perps.
“Whenever a story like this is written without pronouns — he, she, him, her — I immediately why, what’s being covered up?”
I think you are dangerously close to asking something that is not permitted to be asked. Don’t do it; drop it for your own good.
Let’s just be thankful nothing bad happened and that everyone will live to fight another day.
Really is like the Frank and Ernest cartoon where the two are on the sidewalk as a police car goes by.
“They say where we are not standing is the most dangerous part of the city.”
Police car has a sign on the door:
Officers Carry No More Than $20 in Cash.
Love that movie. I miss Bruce Willis; he sure went downhill fast, though I read he was helped with his dialogue for several years, and his characters were always men of few words, anyway.
Are you trying to get out? It breaks my heart to see good places ruined by crime and “progress”.
RE: while calling on members of the public to provide tips
I used that in several of my satires but now it is true so often it isn’t funny any more.
1) No connection whatever to terrorism
2) Law enforcement has no idea of the identity of the suspect who got away.
3) They are reaching out for help from anyone in the community who may have a clue.
$3.2 Billion Secret Service budget.
$11.3 Billion FBI budget.
$526.1 Million DC Police budget.
We, “the community” supplying tips and solving the cases:
Zero payment. Zilch. Nada. Nothing.
Maybe the agent needs to be re-trained. Back to target practice.
Lucky they didn’t catch the robbers... They would have had to waste all that time taking them downtown to be released with no cash bail.
This is a nice section of Tustin if it occurred at Stratus and Westwind. I wouldn’t live there though as these are single family homes without much of a front or back yard.
Most of my family is either here in SoCal or in Israel. Trust me Id LOVE to move to Florida, Id move tomorrow but I dont know anyone, would be weird to just pack up and go somewhere where you know no one and start over
Not normally....
They are full of woke, dumpy females, DEI etc.
Weird but exciting! I think I’d be miserable if I lived in a state like California. I’m originally from Illinois, and sooooo glad I’m outa there! But I had family in Oklahoma, so it’s not as if I came down here with no connections; that would be scary.
The agent should be fired immediately. They didn’t see a threat and couldn’t protect herself.
It’s a she. Guaranteed.
Trump need his own security.
Depends on where you live in California. I live in very safe small town in Northern California.
I live in LA..so nothing is really safe here. My brother, his wife, and his 2 yr old son moved to Irvine to get away from the craziness but even over there you hear stories about crime..my sister moved her family to Calabasas, gated community, now over there its a different world, can go out at night, you feel safe since its a gated community, the worst thing you have to worry about is a bobcat or coyote
How more years of Federal DEM rule before chaos and lawlessness comes to you?
National Forests used to be the safest places one could be, but now drugs and squatters make it so everyone has to carry in the backcountry. Huge Forest fires have also been launched by Illegals and Homeless in those Forests.
